P1030388 * Lovely haggy peat * 2560 x 1920 * (3.25MB)

P1030389 * 2560 x 1920 * (3.0MB)

P1030390 * I was supposed to be descending to Gaick Lodge but it had moved. * 2560 x 1920 * (2.94MB)

P1030391 * Loch Bhrodainn was a little closer than it should have been. * 2560 x 1920 * (3.01MB)

P1030392 * Oh, THERE'S Gaick Lodge. My choice: try to contour round to the path (which might be covered in loose scree or non-existant) or just take Route 1 down the hill (which was as steep as it looked). I picked my way down the heathery bits of hill avoiding scree whenever possible. * 2560 x 1920 * (2.89MB)

P1030394 * Yes, I came down there. Look at that blue sky! * 2560 x 1920 * (2.97MB)

P1030395 * 2560 x 1920 * (2.97MB)

P1030396 * A landslip somewhere along the Allt Gharbh Ghaig. I presume the planks and metal rods were designed to shore up the path but, as I stood at the start of the landslip weighing up my options, I dislodged a rock which plummeted into the steep gorge below. Gripped by fear, I froze for what seemed like several minutes - then made the sensible decision to climb up the hill and give up any notion of following the path. * 2560 x 1920 * (2.88MB)

P1030397 * 2560 x 1920 * (2.97MB)

P1030398 * I'd ummed and ahhed about where to camp and decided to collect some water and keep going a little further. This turned out to be quite a nice pitch ....... * 2560 x 1920 * (3.0MB)
